Flying Off Again
It seems to have been a while since i wrote a proper blog post!
I’ve been in Darwin since last Saturday morning and it’s been nice to spend a last few days here, enjoying the hot steamy weather, before i fly off to winter in England. I fly out tonight at just before one o’clock.
I think it’s about a four hour flight to Singapore, and then i’ve got to hang around in the airport there for six hours. It will be too early in the morning to make it worthwhile trying to go into the city, so i guess i’ll be spending a bit of time in the cactus garden, on the roof of terminal one – getting a break from the aircon before the next leg of the journey.
From Singapore, i’ll be flying to Colombo, in Sri Lanka, where i’ve got about a three hour wait. Three hours is good – it gives you long enough to walk around a bit between gettiing off one plane and getting on the next.
Then i’ll arrive at London’s Heathrow airport about eight o’clock Friday evening, UK time.
I’m not sure if i’m glad or not. It will be nice to see everyone, but the thought of going from the warm weather here to cold and 18 hours darkness a day is a bit daunting. Still, after Kabul last year, it will be comparatively warm!
I’ve done the trip between here and London so many times now, i feel like a commuter!
Here we go again. Groan…
