Moving House Nightmare

Well, it was my own fault, i suppose. But i didn’t enjoy yesterday evening one little bit! That’s what you get when you put things off to the last possible moment, though…

I had been planning to skive off work for a few hours and do my packing, but somehow i never got the chance. I was hoping a guy i work with would be driving from Maningrida into Darwin tomorrow and could take my stuff, so i could put off packing for an extra day! But it looks like he’s not going to now – which i didn’t know for sure until yesterday evening. So i’ve got no real choice other than to put all the rest of my stuff on the barge this morning – which meant packing it all up last night after work.

It wasn’t much fun, i can tell you. And i didn’t quite manage to finish the job, because i ran out of tape!  But, after close to four hours of solid high stress packing, i seem to have nearly finished. There are still a few stray bits an pieces. I’ll probably post them to myself, or take a punt on trying to get extra stuff on the plane tomorrow, maybe.

But what the hell is it all? And where did it all come from? And did i really bring all that crap here with me???

That’s the problem with packing in a rush – there’s no time to weed it out and chuck out as much crap as possible. Maybe that’s how most of it ended up here. And the last place. And the place before that, some of it!

But what the hell am i doing sitting here writing this??? I should be driving up the office to see if i can find some tape that will do the job (i did it last night, and i know there isn’t any – but even some really skinny stuff is better than nothing). And i should be going to the barge and finding out how long i’ve got before i have to get it there (because i can hear it’s there, and unloading already).
